Paul Swigart is the CEO of the US operations of VTB Capital, the investment banking division of one of Russia’s leading financial groups. In his current role, he is overseeing the strategic expansion of VTB Capital in the Americas. He joined VTB Capital in 2010. Mr. Swigart is also a Principal and Director of Steep Rock Capital, a Cayman-based investment company founded in 2006. From 2006-2014, Steep Rock Capital acted as the Investment Adviser to the Steep Rock Russia private equity funds.
From 2000-06, Mr. Swigart was a Partner at United Financial Group (UFG), a leading independent Russian investment bank. During his time at UFG, Mr. Swigart served as Head of International Equity Sales and CEO of the UK operations. UFG was acquired by Deutsche Bank in 2006. Mr. Swigart also spent several years working as a portfolio manager and analyst covering the Emerging European and Latin American markets for Omega Advisors and Scudder Kemper in New York. He began his career as a corporate finance analyst in the Latin American group at CS First Boston, working in both New York and Mexico City.
Mr. Swigart graduated Magna Cum Laude from Princeton University with a degree in History and dual concentrations in Russian Studies and Latin American Studies.
Mr. Swigart served as a non-executive Director on the Board of EOS Russia, a Stockholm-listed investment company, and as a non-Executive director on the Board of ASBISc Enterprises, a Warsaw-listed IT hardware distribution company. He also served for one year on the Board of Directors of Lenta, a leading food retailer in Russia that listed on the LSE in February 2014.
